About John Knox MSc, CSci, MCQI, CQP, FIFST
John started his working career at Unilever in 1961 as a Microbiologist, carrying out work on food plant safety and development of microbes for food flavour. He then went to the West of Scotland Agricultural College to carry out work on cheese development in the West of Scotland and teaching cheese technology.
In 1969 he joined Societé Chambourcy in Paris, working on yogurt and soft cheese products and then transferring to the UK to set up a French products production unit in London.
In 1973 he joined Unigate as a cheese factory manager and in 1977 arrived at Kerrygold, where he was manufacturing Director for 12 years with responsibility for 4 factories and a £200m turnover, covering butter, natural cheese, processed cheese, milk, fruit juices and dry products. During this same period he was Chairman of the UK Processed Cheese Industry for 7 years and a member of the Board of Assifonte EU. In 1989 he set up John Knox Limited, a Business Development and Food Technology Company.
